Since most of them pay per line, you’ll end up making more because you won’t have to take extra time out of your day to edit your work. When you submit your reports, there are other people who work for the company that do the editing.

Another benefit you get when choosing to work for medical transcription companies are health benefits. Although, there are some companies that do not offer insurance. If that is one of your main priorities, then it would be best to do some searching so that you seek out the right company.

The Best Medical Transcription Agencies to Work For

Choosing a career is a major decision. There are a number of things that you want to make sure your career offers before deciding it is the right one for you. The first thing to think about when choosing a profession is that it is something that you can see yourself enjoying. The next thing is job security. Medical transcriptionist jobs have a very good reputation for providing both.

The reason why so many people are making this smart career move is because they know it is going to last. They also know that the pay is ongoing and plentiful. There has been enough said about transcriptionist jobs over the last couple of years to convince almost everyone that the medical transcription industry is in need of more employees and doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.

If you are one of the millions who would like the opportunity to work from home while taking part in a career that is highly respected, useful, and enjoyable all at the same time, then you will be delighted to know that you should not have any problems finding work because there are a lot of medical transcription companies who need more qualified transcriptionists.

Maybe you are one of the many people who plan on starting off on your own. While there is nothing wrong with that, it may not be the most profitable decision. You have to take into account the amount of time it is going to take you to transcribe a medical report. Unfortunately, newbies aren’t so quick to type up a report. On top of that, if you are going to start out on your own, you are also going to have to edit your work, which can take just as much time as transcribing. All in all, it’s a very time-consuming process.

Medical transcription agencies are a wonderful first choice for the beginner medical transcriptionist because they are lenient and also take time to edit your work. You are going to end up making better use of your time and getting paid more for your work. Turnaround times may also not be as strict when working for an agency. Another plus is that you won’t have any complicated contracts to deal with.

Ask anyone who has started off on their own and they will tell you that it is not all it is cracked up to be. Some people never go out on their own because they simply do not want to deal with it. Transcription agencies clearly offer a lot more convenience, especially for the beginner.

In time, you can always choose to go out on your own once you obtain a better understanding of transcriptionist jobs, the industry, contracts, etc. But in the meantime, here is a small list of some of the best transcription agencies to work for along with a couple of their benefits:

ANP Transcriptions – This one is a great choice because they hire all types of transcriptionists ranging from experienced to inexperienced, and also hire in both America and Canada.

MxSecure – Is one of the best transcription agencies to work for because they only require two years of previous experience and hire frequently, nationwide.

Spheris – This particular company is partnered with one of the industry’s most well-known training programs, Career Step. Therefore, very little experience is needed, if any.

So, do you think medical transcription could be the right career for you? It pays well, allows you to stay at home, create your own schedule, and feel more confident because it is something that actually has real meaning and provides a real benefit to you and the medical industry.

The 7 Best Medical Transcription Companies to Work For

Once you have obtained your medical transcription certification, you are going to need to start looking for employment. There are quite a few companies out there that hire medical transcriptionists. Some are better than others, but it is ultimately up to you to decide who you want to work for.

There are literally hundreds of online companies you can apply to upon becoming a medical transcriptionist. Seven of the best companies are Spheris, Accurate Typing Services, Oracle Transcription, Keystrokes, Tigerfish, Unlimited Transcription, and Transcription Relief Services. Now obviously, the majority of all medical transcription companies are great to work for, but these tend to offer a bit more for the transcriptionists as far as benefits, pay, training, etc.

Spheris is probably one of the best because they hire transcriptionists with little to no experience. The starting pay will depend on skill level, accuracy, speed, experience, etc. They offer a complete benefits package as well. They are also affiliated and very well-known with some of the most elite medical transcription training facilities.

Accurate Typing Services has only one downside, and it is that they require at least 2 years of experience. But, two years really isn’t a long time. You are actually still considered somewhat of a beginner at that point. They offer full time benefits if the employee manages to put in 25 hours per week. The starting pay is also obviously based on experience.

Oracle Transcription is a wonderful company to work for because they only give you the type of accounts they know you can do. If you do not have a lot of experience (at least 3 years are required for this particular company), then you will not be matched with something beyond your skill level. The pay is also legitimate.

Keystrokes also requires at least 3 years experience but offers a full time benefits package, which is not something all of the medical transcription companies offer.

Tigerfish will hire just about anyone who can type a report accurately and quickly. Upon applying, you will have to take a series of typing tests which will be checked for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and speed. If hired, they will send you an email letting you know when to start.

Unlimited Transcription’s starting pay is around .08 cents per line and usually pays every two weeks. The pay is a little bit higher than some other company’s who start off at .06 to .07 cpl with only two years of experience.

Transcription Relief Services is considered to be one of the best companies to work for because they offer employee benefits such as group medical, dental, and vision coverage, a comprehensive 401K plan, paid time off, holiday incentives, and flexible scheduling. The pay is also based on experience and production.

As stated earlier, the final decision is up to you when it comes to who you choose to work for. There may be a company you would really want to work for but do not get hired for various reasons. When that happens, just do your best to find the next best company and try again. In due time, you are sure to find the right medical transcription company to suit your every need.
